This came on the occasion of His Highness’ approval of the “Al Layan Oasis” development project, one of the new recreational and environmental projects in the Emirate of Dubai, which extends over an area of ​​one million square metres, and includes a lake with an area of ​​more than a quarter of a million square metres, with the aim of highlighting the beauty of the desert environment and enhancing the concepts of sustainability and quality of life for the emirate’s residents and visitors from all over the world.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said, in a blog post on the “X” platform, yesterday: “A new tourism addition to our economic sector that we launched today… Al-Layan Oasis… on an area of 10 million square feet… with a lake in the middle on an area of 2.5 million square feet… and it includes entertainment facilities, sports tracks, camping spaces, and unprecedented desert tourism experiences, as part of a package of water and green projects, for which we have allocated $4 billion.” “Dirham.”

His Highness added: “Every day in the UAE is an opportunity to write a new story… plant a new seed, and add a different imprint on a development process that creates a more beautiful future and builds the best life in the world, God willing.”

The project comes within a package of initiatives and projects under the “Water and Green Spaces Roadmap 2030”, which was recently launched by Dubai Municipality, during the World Government Summit 2026, to enhance Dubai’s leadership in investing in nature to achieve human well-being, within a comprehensive strategic vision, aiming to develop a harmonious urban system between sustainability, luxury and quality of life, and with a package of projects worth more than four billion dirhams.

The new project is integrated with the comprehensive plan to develop the countryside and prairies of Dubai, which aims to implement a package of development projects and initiatives that contribute to preserving its nature, providing the necessary services and facilities to enhance the quality of life of the people of Dubai and its visitors, and providing a distinguished tourist experience as one of the main tourist destinations in the emirate, in addition to achieving the goals of the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033, and the Dubai Urban Plan 2040.

Advanced model

The Director General of Dubai Municipality, Engineer Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, confirmed that the approval of the project represents a new step in the path of implementing the directives of the wise leadership, to provide integrated natural environments, centered around humans, their well-being and quality of life, and highlights an advanced model of how to employ nature and the environmental components of the emirate to provide sustainable social and economic value, while preserving the unique character of the desert as an integral part of Dubai’s identity.

He said: “The (Al Layan Oasis) project embodies Dubai’s vision of investing in nature, as it is a fundamental pillar of human well-being and quality of life, and it translates Dubai Municipality’s commitment to developing sustainable, world-class environmental destinations and facilities.”

He added: “In every project we implement, we place the person, the family, and the community at the heart of the integrated urban and development system, in commitment to the vision of Dubai and the directives of the wise leadership to be the best city to live in, the most distinguished in quality of life in the world… and the most attractive and pioneering in the field of tourism in general, including ecotourism.”

For his part, Executive Director of the Public Utilities Corporation in Dubai Municipality, Badr Anwahi, explained that the project was designed to provide an integrated experience that redefines the relationship between the visitor and the desert environment, through quality facilities, advanced infrastructure, and effective partnerships with the private sector, ensuring the provision of innovative services that elevate the experience of residents and visitors alike.

An integrated environmental destination

The “Al-Layan Oasis” project includes implementing an integrated infrastructure, providing 1,000 parking spaces for vehicles, in addition to networks of services and infrastructure necessary to increase operational readiness. It also includes 14 kilometers of pedestrian and bicycle paths, including four kilometers of five-meter-high overhead paths, offering panoramic views of the oasis, in addition to linking it to the existing paths in the Al Marmoum area. The project constitutes a main station on the Dubai Caravan Road and a unique destination about 50 minutes away from the city center, allowing visitors to experience the desert in an environment characterized by calm and tranquility.

The advanced overall design of the new oasis ensures its ability to receive more than 330,000 visitors annually, in a model that balances the stimulation of eco-tourism and the preservation of natural systems, as it includes plans to enhance the cultivation of local plants and trees, and provide shaded spaces that increase the comfort of visitors and improve the environmental sustainability of the site.

In the same context; The project contributes to enhancing physical and mental health, encouraging healthy lifestyles and supporting community cohesion. It also takes into account the highest standards of environmental sustainability, by adopting environmentally friendly solutions and rationalizing the consumption of resources. The Al Layan Oasis project is expected to constitute a qualitative addition to the network of parks and gardens in the Emirate of Dubai, and an attractive destination for residents and visitors looking for a desert experience that combines entertainment, culture and nature.

4 oases…one experience

The project is divided into four main areas, offering an integrated experience that combines entertainment, nature, and services. “Al Multaqa Oasis” includes an open cinema, an open-air theater, and areas for food trucks and events, while “Family Oasis” provides 28 rest areas, children’s games, and integrated service facilities. The “Camping Oasis” includes designated spaces equipped for camping for 100 caravans, and an integrated visitor center that enhances environmental and educational awareness, while the “Entertainment Oasis” offers a variety of activities, sales outlets, and services within a sustainable natural environment.

Dubai Municipality, through the “Al Layan Oasis” project, provides about 365,000 square meters of investment opportunities, as part of its commitment to strengthening the partnership between the government and private sectors, stimulating the local economy, and ensuring the provision of quality experiences and distinguished services to visitors to the oasis.
