"Business and golf day" Enhances cooperation between the business communities in Sharjah and the United States

Dubai, February 13, 2020 – The Sharjah Foreign Direct Investment Office “Invest in Sharjah”, in cooperation with the American Chamber of Commerce in Dubai, yesterday organized the “Business and Golf Day 2026” event at the Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club, with the aim of strengthening economic and investment relations between the business communities in the Emirate of Sharjah and the United States of America.
The organization of the event comes in light of the continued growth in trade relations between the Emirate of Sharjah and the United States, as the volume of trade exchange between the two sides reached about 3.8 billion dirhams during the year 2025, which reflects the depth of economic ties and the expansion of areas of joint cooperation.
The event combined formal business sessions and an interactive golf program with the participation of CEOs from companies operating in the Emirates, Sharjah, and American companies based in Sharjah, with the aim of enhancing direct communication between investors and decision-makers, highlighting investment opportunities in the emirate, and facilitating access to regional and international markets, in addition to supporting long-term strategic partnerships.
The event began with an official ceremony during which Sheikh Fahim Al Qasimi, Head of the Department of Government Relations and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Economic Integration in the Emirate of Sharjah, His Excellency Robert Raines, Consul General of the United States of America in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, His Excellency Ahmed Obaid Al Qaseer, Executive Director of the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), His Excellency Mohammed Juma Al Musharrakh, Executive Director of “Invest in Sharjah”, and Mr. Nasser Bakkar, Member of the Board of Directors of the American Chamber of Commerce in Dubai and Director of Government Relations for the Middle East at GE, spoke. Aerospace.
Sheikh Fahim Al Qasimi said that the economy of the Emirate of Sharjah continues to grow, recording a growth rate in gross domestic product of 8.5% during the year 2024, while preliminary indicators for 2025 indicate expectations of an annual increase exceeding 6%.
He added that what we are witnessing today is the result of the confidence of companies that have chosen Sharjah as a platform for growth and expansion, pointing out that the presence of this number of partners who were part of our journey is a source of pride for us, expressing his aspiration to establish the “American Chamber of Commerce – Sharjah,” adding that to achieve this, it requires everyone to work together in the spirit of partnership and integration.
For his part, His Excellency Robert Raines praised the event as a platform for exchanging knowledge and experiences and contributing to strengthening relations between the two sides, noting that the essence of successful bilateral relations lies in the prosperity of trade and business, adding: “There are many of you today who have an established presence in Sharjah for years, so be sure to benefit from each other’s experiences and exchange experiences.”
For his part, Ahmed Obaid Al Qaseer pointed out that the economic relationship between the Emirate of Sharjah and the United States of America continues to grow at an increasing pace, as today about 1,200 American companies operate in the free zones in the emirate, in addition to 314 companies outside the free zones, while the volume of trade exchange between Sharjah and the United States has reached about one billion US dollars, stressing that these numbers do not only reflect the volume of commercial activity, but rather express a high level of mutual trust and long-term commitment to strengthening the partnership and building investment relations between the two sides.
For his part, His Excellency Mohammed Juma Al Musharrakh explained that the high quality of life in the Emirate of Sharjah represents one of the most important factors supporting business success by providing a balanced and safe environment that enables investors to achieve sustainable growth. Organizing events of this kind also reflects the emirate’s vision towards linking quality of life and strategic investment in a way that strengthens relationships and creates long-term sustainable opportunities.
For his part, Mr. Nasser Bakkar stressed that holding the “Business and Golf Day” between Sharjah and the United States reflects the strength of the commercial and institutional partnership between the UAE and the United States, praising the role of “Invest in Sharjah” in promoting constructive cooperation between the government and private sectors.
He explained that the mission of the American Chamber of Commerce in Dubai is to unify the voice of American companies and build strong bridges between institutions and investors, stressing that this event goes beyond being a sporting event to constitute a platform for building relationships, exchanging ideas, and strengthening professional networks that support sustainable growth and long-term business success.
Following the official ceremony, the attendees participated in the golf tournament, which concluded with honoring the winning team.
