Madrid, February 14 / WAM / Marc Soler, the Emirates XRG team rider, won the title of the first stage of the Spanish Tour of Murcia, “Costa Calida”, to grab the team’s leader’s jersey, while his teammate Julius Johansen strengthened the team’s position by coming in second place.
The opening stage extended for a distance of 83.5 km, and the strong and continuous side winds imposed themselves from the start, causing the fragmentation of the group of riders and forcing the organizers to significantly reduce the distance of the stage.
As the race entered its final stages, the Emirates-XRG team took control of the course of events, and on the final climb towards Yecla, Soler made use of his climbing abilities, confidently setting off on the last climb of the day and pulling away alone to achieve his first victory of the 2026 season.
As for Johansen, he was rewarded for his great effort in leading the early movement, as he withstood the steep climb to claim second place.
