The exhibition accompanying the forum"The second Shawwaf" Reviews the latest techniques for detecting crescent moons

Abu Dhabi, February 17 / WAM / The Emirates Council for Sharia Fatwa organized an exhibition accompanying the activities of the “Second Al Shawwaf” Crescent Sighting Forum, which was held at the historic Al Hosn site, with wide participation from national authorities concerned with astronomy, space and Sharia monitoring.

The organization of the exhibition came within the Council’s direction to expand the cognitive and interactive dimension of the forum, and provide the opportunity for visitors, researchers, and those interested to see closely the pioneering national experiences, and the latest technologies and devices used in crescent moon monitoring, in a way that combines the authentic legal heritage with modern scientific progress.

During its participation, the Council reviewed its most prominent qualitative initiatives and projects in the field of crescent detection, including its five legal foundations in crescent detection, its specialized publications, and its methodology in governing the investigation procedures and declaring the crescent moon has been confirmed, in addition to presenting the cognitive identity of the “Al-Shawaf” Forum as a national platform for developing fatwa work related to the legal timings.

The exhibition witnessed the participation of a number of national bodies, including the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities in Dubai, represented by the Dubai Crescent Observatory, the United Arab Emirates University through the National Center for Space Science and Technology, the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre, the Sharjah Academy for Space and Astronomy Science and Technology, the Emirates Astronomy Society, the International Astronomy Center and the Seal Astronomical Observatory. These bodies displayed models of their astronomical observatories, advanced optical devices, astronomical calculation programs, and their research projects specialized in observing and studying crescents. Cosmic phenomena.

The exhibition also included an introductory section on ancient heritage instruments, such as the astrolabe and the answering quarter, in reference to the historical extension of observational sciences in Islamic civilization, in addition to interactive educational platforms and cultural activities for young people, aimed at enhancing scientific awareness and consolidating interest in astronomy among future generations.

The Council affirmed that the accompanying exhibition embodies a national model of cooperation between religious, scientific and academic institutions, and reflects the UAE’s leadership in employing modern technologies to serve the legal decisions related to the crescent moons. It extended its thanks and appreciation to all participating parties for their effective contributions and the scientific and knowledge content they provided that contributed to enriching the forum and enhancing its societal message.
