"Yas Clinic" and"Abu Dhabi Stem Cells" They sign a research cooperation agreement with Ohio University

ABU DHABI, February 18, 2018 (WAM) – Yas Clinic Hospital – Khalifa City and Abu Dhabi Stem Cell Center (ADSCC) signed a strategic memorandum of understanding with Ohio University aimed at enhancing research and scientific cooperation in the fields of cell and gene therapy and advanced medicine.

The agreement was announced during a joint scientific event that brought together an elite group of doctors, researchers and international experts to discuss the latest developments in stem cell programs and cell therapies and their future clinical applications.

The cooperation aims to exchange knowledge and expertise, enhance joint research, and support the development of advanced treatments in blood diseases, oncology and regenerative medicine, thus enhancing Abu Dhabi’s position as a leading regional center in medical research and health innovation.

The scientific exchange sessions also highlighted global developments in CAR-T and gene therapy, and the importance of integration between academic and medical institutions to accelerate the transfer of innovation from the laboratory to clinical practice.

Mubashir Maqbool, Acting CEO of Yas Clinic Hospital – Khalifa City, explained that the agreement represents a pivotal step to enhance innovation and scientific research and build global academic partnerships, explaining that working with Ohio University and the Abu Dhabi Stem Cell Center will provide new opportunities for scientific discoveries that will directly reflect on the quality of patient care and the provision of advanced treatments closer to society.

For her part, Dr. Maysoon Al Karam, Executive Director of Medical Affairs at Yas Clinic Hospital – Khalifa City, confirmed that the cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Stem Cell Center and Ohio University represents a qualitative step to consolidate the culture of scientific research and transform knowledge into tangible clinical applications, noting that the partnership opens new horizons for innovation in the fields of cell and gene therapy, which will have a positive impact on the health of patients and the future of medical care.

Dr. Muhammad Abu Haliqa, Consultant in Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplantation and Head of Academic Affairs at the hospital, said that research cooperation forms the cornerstone of the development of modern medicine, noting that the strategic partnership will contribute to building an integrated system of clinical learning, scientific exchange, and applied research, which will accelerate the development of advanced cell therapies and improve patient outcomes in the region.
