“Hafeet Challenge” begins with the participation of 1,560 players

The “Hafeet Sports Challenge” competitions were launched in Al Ain yesterday evening, with the participation of 1,560 players in football tournaments and 400 competitors in the jiu-jitsu tournament, in a sports scene that reflects the remarkable development witnessed by the event since its first inception, and consolidates its position as a community sports platform that combines sports competition and professional organization.

The first day’s competitions were divided into nine sports tournaments held in different areas of the city, in a step that reflects a deliberate approach towards expanding the base of sports participation and enhancing community access. They included football in all its categories, the jiu-jitsu championship, as well as basketball, cricket, volleyball, table tennis, and competitions for people of determination.

Khalaf Salem Al Wahidi, Director of Events and Partners Department at the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, said that the “Hafeet Sports Challenge” embodies an advanced model of community sports initiatives that combine sports competition and the promotion of human values, in a distinctive Ramadan atmosphere that reflects the spirit of participation and community interaction in Al Ain.

He added that the great diversity of tournaments and their spread in the areas of Al Ain City reflects a modern organizational vision that aims to expand the base of sports participation and bring sports closer to society. He pointed out that the integration of efforts between the organizing bodies, most notably the Al Ain City Municipality as the organizing body, the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and Al Ain Sports Club, contributed to providing a distinguished organizational experience that reflects the highest standards of professionalism and institutional work.

Al Wahidi stressed the Abu Dhabi Sports Council’s support for initiatives that promote community sports and support talent, which contributes to building a sustainable sports environment that serves all segments of society.

16 teams with 320 players participate in the Corporate Football Championship, while the Residential Neighborhoods Championship brings together 32 teams with 640 players, in addition to 30 teams in the Academy Championship with 600 players, bringing the total number of participants in football competitions to 1,560 players.
