المملكة: 100 thousand paths.. Launching “interactive maps” to guide those visiting the Two Holy Mosques

Launched The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, the “smart interactive maps” system.
The CEO of the Authority, Engineer Ghazi Al-Shahrani, confirmed that this launch represents a qualitative leap in spatial guidance, and contributes directly to facilitating the movement of visitors and pilgrims by providing real-time information and updated routes that guarantee the safety of movement and the quality of the experience within the Two Holy Mosques.
Technologies Smart
Al-Shahrani explained during his inauguration of the system, in the presence of the authority’s leaders, that these maps come as a culmination of digital transformation efforts and employing Smart Technologies for Guests of the Merciful.
He revealed that this system is part of a package of technical systems that was recently launched to generate accurate operational data, which contributes to decision-making, understanding field challenges, and paves the way for building advanced future systems.
The maps work by feeding operating rooms with direct data, to direct visitors towards the most appropriate paths automatically in cases of closures or severe crowding.
Trial run
For his part, the Executive Vice President of the sector revealed Digital Transformation Dr. Muhammad Al-Saqr said that the trial operation of the system will be launched coinciding with the holy month of Ramadan, to integrate with the “color coding” and metric addressing systems that divide the Two Holy Mosques into clear geographic ranges that support smart operation.
Al-Saqr added that this launch is the nucleus of a development project that will extend for years, with plans to expand and develop use cases intensively during the year 2026.
Dynamic Paths
He indicated Al-Saqr described in numbers the size of the technical project, noting that the system includes more than 950 points of interest distributed among 13 service categories, and is supported by about 650 quick response codes (QR). The system is distinguished by its superior ability to generate more than 100,000 dynamic paths, which speak and improve automatically according to field movement variables and crowd flow.
Speed of response to reports
With regard to the operational aspect and speed of response, the Director of the Business Solutions Department, Engineer Waheeb Al-Matrafi, confirmed that the interactive maps were designed to support reports related to the site with high accuracy.
He added that the new system will contribute to accelerating the beneficiaries’ access to the “vehicles.” “Electricity” using the ticket number, through a smart platform whose construction was based on field data collected and audited over a period of months, which enhances the efficiency of the system and improves the quality of services provided.
