Israel summons 70,000 reserve soldiers

An Israeli military spokesman said on Saturday that Israel will call up about 70,000 reserve soldiers, most of whom are air defense specialists and National Guard forces.

“But there will also be a strong presence on our borders,” he told reporters.

The spokesman added that the army is prepared for “various scenarios” regarding border protection and possible attacks on Israel.

When he was asked how long the military buildup would continue, he replied, “As long as it is necessary.”

The spokesman said that Iran has so far fired dozens of missiles at Israel, but there have been no serious injuries.

Regarding Israeli attacks on Iran, the spokesman said, “Our initial strikes were directed at targets related to our freedom of action.”

He added that others were directed to “targets of great importance, who are people involved in the plan to destroy Israel.” The spokesman declined to provide further details.
