Trade to and from Iran across the sea has completely stopped

The US military announced, on Saturday, that the blockade it imposed on Iranian ports had completely stopped the movement of trade across the sea to and from Iran.

The US Central Command (Centcom) said on the “X” platform, “The guided missile destroyer USS Pinckney is patrolling territorial waters to support siege operations.”

He added: “The blockade led to a complete cessation of trade to and from Iran by sea.”

The United States has been tightening its grip to blockade Iranian ports for days, following the failure of a first round of negotiations between the two parties in Islamabad.

Iran announced the opening of the Strait of Hormuz to ship traffic on Friday, but closed it again on Saturday, demanding that the United States lift the naval blockade on it.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said on Saturday evening that “the strait will remain closed until the American blockade is lifted.”

The Revolutionary Guard warned that “no ship should move from its anchorage in the Gulf or the Sea of Oman, and any attempt to approach the Strait of Hormuz will be considered cooperation with the enemy and will be targeted.”
