"Mohammed bin Rashid Knowledge Foundation"The Month of Reading embodies the UAE’s commitment to establishing it as a daily behavior among individuals

Dubai, 3 March / WAM / His Excellency Jamal bin Huwaireb, Executive Director of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation, confirmed that Reading Month is a pioneering national occasion that embodies the UAE’s strategic commitment to building knowledge societies and achieving the goals of the National Reading Strategy launched by the country to enhance the demand for books and establish reading as a daily behavior among individuals of all interests and age groups.

Ibn Huwaireb said in a statement that the month of reading is not a seasonal event, but rather a practical embodiment of an insightful and integrated vision. Reading is considered an essential pillar within the comprehensive development system and a development tool to achieve the goals of the knowledge economy, stressing that investing in reading is consistent with the state’s directions in building human capital that possesses the skills of the future and is able to innovate and compete in a rapidly transforming global environment.

He explained that, based on this deep belief, the Foundation continues to launch and implement qualitative initiatives that support the objectives of the National Reading Strategy and contribute to strengthening the UAE’s position as a global center for knowledge production and dissemination. At the forefront of these initiatives is the Digital Knowledge Center, which provides diverse knowledge content that keeps pace with digital transformation and is characterized by easy access. The number of its users has reached about 3.7 million users, and its content has exceeded 36 million digital materials and witnesses 11 million monthly visits from 184 beneficiary countries around the world, in addition to the Dubai International Writing Program, which represents A distinguished platform that aims to encourage writing and prepare a generation of writers and creators. Last year, it received more than 800 membership applications and benefited more than 15,000 people in 6 countries.

His Excellency pointed out that during the past year, in the context of disseminating knowledge, the Foundation distributed more than 60,000 books as part of the “My Family Reads” initiative to entities and individuals in various regions of the country, which varied between family books, novels, children’s literature, and leadership and self-development books, while the “Bel Arabi” initiative, which aims to support Arabic content in digital spaces and enhance the presence of the Arabic language in various forums, succeeded in attracting more than 12,000 visitors to the activities of its thirteenth session, in addition to millions of participants via digital platforms.

While the Knowledge Break Initiative – the largest reading club – presented about 215 intellectual and cognitive sessions that discussed 180 books and recorded the attendance of about 3,200 participants and 56 male and female writers, including 18 Emiratis, in a clear confirmation of the initiative’s keenness to support national intellectual production in addition to its expansion in Jordan, Canada and Australia.
