Al Waseef Group contributes two million dirhams to the “End of Life” campaign

Al Waseef Group announced its contribution of two million dirhams in support of the “Have a Life” campaign to save 5 million children from starvation, which was launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, “may God protect him,” in conjunction with the holy month of Ramadan, to raise at least one billion dirhams to be invested in combating child hunger in the world.
The “End Life” campaign to save 5 million children from starvation comes as an extension of the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, which made combating hunger in the world a special priority and a main focus of many humanitarian initiatives and projects sponsored by His Highness. The campaign is implemented in partnership with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), Save the Children, the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation, and Action Against Hunger.
The global humanitarian campaign focuses in particular on children who face the most dangerous forms of hunger in the most vulnerable communities, especially in areas of disasters, crises and conflicts, where 5 children under the age of five die from malnutrition and hunger in the world every minute.
Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Waseef Group, Obaid Maimani, stressed that the “End Life” campaign to save 5 million children from starvation has profound humanitarian dimensions through its focus on children who suffer from hunger and the risks of malnutrition in less fortunate communities, and highlights the need to intensify and integrate efforts in order to meet the urgent nutritional needs of tens of millions of children.
He said: “We at Al Waseef Group are pleased to be a contributor to this Ramadan campaign and to be a supporter of every charitable initiative in the UAE. We will remain, God willing, a supporter of the projects of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives Foundation and its sustainable programs to combat hunger in the world.”
The number 11.5 carries a decisive medical and humanitarian significance, as it represents a dividing line between a situation that can be remedied with rapid intervention, and a situation in which the child’s life enters the realm of real danger of death. When the circumference of a child’s arm decreases below this measurement, this is a clear indication of severe wasting, which is a medical emergency that means that the child’s body no longer possesses the minimum amount of muscle mass and nutritional reserve necessary for survival, and that his immunity has become weak to the point of directly threatening his life.
The “Edge of Life” campaign to save 5 million children from starvation continues to receive contributions from institutions and individuals through 7 main channels, which are the website dedicated to the campaign www.edgeoflife.ae, and the campaign’s call center on the toll-free number 8004999. Contributions can also be made through bank transfer to the campaign account (IBAN No: AE940340003708472909222) in the Emirates Islamic exchange in UAE dirhams.
