Extending the term of the Lebanese Parliament for two years

The General Assembly of the Lebanese Parliament approved today, Monday, an extension of the Council’s term for a period of two years, according to local media.
The National News Agency reported that this came with a majority of 76 votes, 41 deputies opposed, and four deputies abstained from voting.
The Lebanese Parliament held a session headed by its Speaker, Nabih Berri, and in the presence of MPs, Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, and ministers, to study and approve proposals for laws on the agenda.
Parliamentary elections were scheduled to be held next May.
