Al-Sisi calls for giving the opportunity to stop the war in the region and search for peaceful solutions

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi called on Monday for giving the opportunity to stop the ongoing war in the region and search for peaceful solutions to it.
Al-Sisi said, during his attendance today at the activities of the 43rd educational symposium, organized by the Armed Forces, within the framework of Egypt’s celebrations of Martyr and Veteran’s Day, at the Al-Manara International Conference Center, that “our region is witnessing a critical and fateful circumstance. The war that is ongoing now will have grave humanitarian, economic, and security repercussions.”
He added, “Egypt, while condemning the aggression against its fellow Arab countries, calls for giving the opportunity to stop the war and search for peaceful solutions. “There are no settlements without dialogue…no solutions without negotiation…and no peace without an understanding that guarantees security, preserves capabilities, and protects peoples from the scourge of wars.”
He pointed out that the Palestinian issue represents the core of the conflict in the Middle East, and Egypt’s position on it is clear and unequivocal: “There is no peace without justice… and there is no stability without an independent Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital.” He declared his country’s categorical rejection of any attempts to displace the Palestinian people from their land, as this is a red line. Egypt will never allow it to be exceeded.
Al-Sisi warned against attempts to ignite strife in the Nile Basin and the Horn of Africa, as these are extremely dangerous adventures that will have repercussions. No one has the ability to contain it, and no party will be immune from its effects, stressing that Egypt, which always calls for cooperation and integration with the sister countries in the Nile Basin, will not allow the region to be dragged into absurd conflicts that threaten its present and future.
He stated that despite the surrounding regional and international circumstances and the gravity of the challenges, his country’s economy is in a safety zone. With the testimony of the relevant international institutions, he expressed his hope that the ongoing war in the region will not have economic repercussions affecting Egypt, as has happened since October 2023, when the country incurred losses approaching 10 billion dollars, from Suez Canal revenues, due to the war in Gaza, in addition to the other direct and indirect effects of this war.
