Dismissal of a coach due to inappropriate messages to female players

The Luxembourg Football Federation announced the dismissal of the women’s national team coach, Daniel Santos, on the grounds of sending inappropriate messages to a number of the team’s players.

The federation explained, in an official statement, that the actions of the 44-year-old coach contradict the moral values ​​and principles of respect that the federation adheres to in all its activities.

The Luxembourg Football Federation confirmed that it moved quickly to protect the female players and maintain a safe sporting environment, noting that the clear loss of confidence on the part of the female players made continuing the relationship with the coach impossible, which necessitated the immediate termination of the contract with him.

He stressed his commitment to providing a safe and respectful sports environment for all female players and members of the sports community, stressing that he will not tolerate any behavior that affects the dignity of individuals, while continuing to provide full support to the affected female players.

Santos has coached the women’s national team since 2020, and previously held several coaching positions in the senior national teams in Luxembourg.
