The UAE… leadership and proactive readiness that transcend crises and redefine the future of learning

Experts in digital education have confirmed that the future of education is no longer linked to place, but rather to the extent of the readiness of educational systems to maintain the quality and humanity of learning in various circumstances.
They told Emirates Today that the UAE’s experience constitutes a direct reflection of a long-term strategic vision and continuous investments in digital infrastructure and building educational capabilities.
Special meanings
In detail, Dr. Nabil Huiken – Academic Director, Fortis Education, said that the celebration of the International Day of Digital Learning organized by UNESCO this year under the slogan “Building a Digital Future for Public Education” carries special connotations in the UAE, which has proven its ability to make a smooth transition to distance education within a short period of time, without affecting the continuity of the educational process.
Planning and investment
He stressed that this success was not the result of the moment, but rather the result of years of planning and investment in educational technology, qualifying teachers, and enhancing institutional readiness.
Real value
He pointed out that the true value of digital learning lies not only in ease of access, but in its ability to support personalized learning for each student, through blended educational systems that combine in-person and digital education in a balanced manner.
Feedback
He added that these environments provide immediate feedback and maintain continuity of learning even in emergency situations, while keeping the teacher at the heart of the educational process, as his role remains pivotal in understanding students’ human and cognitive needs that technical systems alone cannot realize.
Digital safety
He stressed that digital safety represents a fundamental pillar in any modern educational system, by providing safe, controlled platforms and promoting the concepts of digital citizenship among students, including critical thinking and responsible communication.
Teaching methods
He pointed out that one of the most important lessons of the past years is that the real challenge was not technical, but educational, as digital learning requires redesigning teaching methods and not simply transferring them to cyberspace.
Advanced model
The President of the University of Dubai, Dr. Issa Al Bastaki, stressed that the UAE’s experience in digital education reflects an advanced model of integration between technology and educational policies, noting that universities have also proven their ability to quickly adapt to changes, by employing advanced educational platforms that support interactive learning and scientific research remotely.
Digital transformation
He explained that digital transformation in higher education is no longer an option, but rather a necessity imposed by the nature of the times, especially with the rapid development in the fields of artificial intelligence and data analysis.
Digital skills
He added that universities are required today to graduate students who possess advanced digital skills and are capable of continuous learning, not just acquiring traditional knowledge.
Educational data
He pointed out that the use of educational data should be a tool to improve the quality of education, and not just a means of measuring formal performance, warning against excessive reliance on digital indicators without considering the true depth of students’ understanding.
Critical thinking
He stressed that the role of the faculty member will remain pivotal in directing the educational process and ensuring a balance between technology and critical thinking.
Role integration
Dr. Mona Jaber from the Higher Colleges of Technology believes that the success of digital education depends largely on the integration of roles between educational institutions and parents, stressing that the family is an essential partner in supporting the learning experience, especially in digital environments.
Continuous awareness
She explained that strengthening this role requires continuous awareness through workshops, manuals, and effective multilingual communication.
Highlights of opportunities
She added that one of the most prominent opportunities offered by digital education is personalization supported by artificial intelligence, which can help adapt educational content according to the level of each student. However, she stressed the need to use these technologies with caution, so that they do not become a substitute for students’ real thinking.
The biggest challenge
She stressed that the biggest challenge is achieving a balance between benefiting from technology and preserving the essence of the educational process, which is based on developing thinking, analytical and creativity skills.
Emirates experience
She concluded that the UAE’s experience represents a pioneering model in building a sustainable digital educational system capable of facing future challenges and achieving high-quality education for all.
