Bahrain begins its presidency of the Security Council starting in April 2026


The kingdom of Bahrainwill assume the presidency of the Security Council on April 1, 2026, within the framework of its non-permanent membership in The United Nations Security Council during the years 2026 and 2027.

The duties of the Kingdom of Bahrain include its capacity as President of the Security Council, according to the Bahrain News Agency "With us"Managing the work of the UN Security Council, as it bears the primary responsibility for maintaining international peace and security in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations.

The Security Council also takes the initiative in determining the existence of a threat to peace or an act of aggression, and works to call on the parties to the conflict to settle the dispute by peaceful means, and takes the necessary measures to maintain or restore international peace and security. The President of the Security Council also works to manage the work of the Council and its subsidiary organs in an effort to build on the common ground of member states and ensure the continuation of international cooperation in an optimal manner.
