Announced Saudi Water AuthorityProhibiting the disconnection of water service from consumers during the holy month of Ramadan and the days of Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha, National Day, and Foundation Day, as part of the updates to the new water and sanitation services provision guide issued on Sunday, April 5, 2026 AD.

The authority confirmed Preventing service interruptionin the cities of Mecca and Medina during the Hajj season from 01 Dhu al-Hijjah to 20 Dhu al-Hijjah for all categories, in addition to cases of complaints based on invoices that have not yet been decided.

This new regulation aims to protect the rights of beneficiaries and ensure continuity of service in vital seasons, while organizing delivery and billing procedures in a way that enhances transparency and raises the efficiency of the water sector in all regions of the Kingdom.

The service provider has the right to initiate Stopping waterIn the event that the due balance exceeds 1,000 riyals or when three consecutive bills are defaulted, provided that the beneficiary is notified and given a period of 15 days to pay from the due date.

This period is followed by a final notice before implementation for a period not exceeding 5 working days, while entities of a sensitive nature receive an additional period of up to 30 days before the actual suspension.

In the event of payment, the service provider is obligated to return the water to the subscriber within a period of time. Not to exceed 24 hours, to ensure that beneficiaries are not harmed by long interruptions and that service is restored in accordance with the approved regulatory frameworks.

Service interruption compensation

The guide approved the subscriber’s right to request a water tank at a reduced cost of 4 riyals per cubic meter in the event that the regular service delivery is delayed or interrupted for a period exceeding 72 hours for reasons not attributable to the beneficiary.

The tank must be provided within a period not exceeding 12 hours from the time of request, with tanks continuing to be supplied at this price every 15 days until the permanent service returns to its normal course.

The guide also specified a period of 10 working days to study requests. New deliveries, provided that field implementation takes place within a maximum of 25 working days after paying the fees, which ensures a clear timetable for providing the service to new subscribers.

Delivery and transportation costs

The guide revealed fees for transferring meters to a distance not exceeding 2 metres, amounting to 2,500 riyals for small diameters and 3,500 riyals for large diameters, with 1,000 riyals calculated for each additional building unit when connecting water and sanitation services.

For the non-residential sector, connection fees start from 3,000 riyals for water and 5,000 riyals for sanitation, with variable amounts added for areas exceeding 3,000 square meters and implementation costs. Actual.

These updated prices come to regulate urban expansion and ensure coverage of infrastructure costs while maintaining standards of quality of implementation and speed of completion in both residential and commercial projects.
