Dubai Roads warned the public of the need to rely on approved means of transportation that are under the authority’s supervision, through a smart regulatory system that guarantees complete security and safety for passengers.
In detail, the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority called on new residents and visitors in the Emirate of Dubai to avoid unlicensed taxis whose fares are high or unstable, and whose trips are neither safe nor reliable.
The Authority advised using its taxis, or those belonging to the companies contracted with it to provide passenger transportation services, which are under the Authority’s supervision, through smart control systems that guarantee complete security and safety for passengers, and to avoid unlicensed taxis whose use may expose them to several risks, including assault, theft, fraud, or threats.
It stated through its digital platforms that unlicensed taxis are considered to be in violation of Executive Council Resolution No. (6) of 2016 regarding regulating the transportation of passengers by cars in the Emirate of Dubai, and are punishable by a fine of 5,000 dirhams and impoundment of the vehicle.
She called on individuals not to take private vehicles with people who offer to give them rides unofficially, stressing the importance of moving only using taxis affiliated with the Authority or companies licensed by it, to ensure safety, comfort, and safe movement in the emirate.
The authority stressed that the commitment to using licensed means of transportation, and paying attention to details such as relying on official transportation applications such as the “S’hail” application, and relying on secure means of payment such as the “Nol” card, represent simple, yet effective steps in enhancing a safe and comfortable transportation experience, stressing that “your comfort is important to us” is not just a slogan, but rather a business approach that translates into procedures and services that protect society and ensure the quality of life in the emirate.
