المملكة: Saudi Arabia welcomes the ceasefire and affirms support for calm and stability in the region
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s welcome to the announcement of His Excellency the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, and the announcement of His Excellency the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mr. Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, that the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran have reached a ceasefire agreement between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran, noting in this context the fruitful efforts made by his country, and Field Marshal Asim Munir, Commander of the Defense Forces and Chief of Staff of the Pakistani Army, in reaching this agreement.
The Kingdom affirms its support for the mediation efforts being undertaken. With the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, to reach a permanent agreement that achieves security and stability, and addresses all the issues that have caused destabilization of security and stability over several decades.
The Kingdom stresses at the same time the necessity of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open for navigation in accordance with the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea without any restrictions.
The Kingdom hopes that the ceasefire will constitute an opportunity to reach a comprehensive and sustainable calm, in a way that enhances the security of the region, and that any attacks or policies that affect the sovereignty of the countries of the region will stop. Its security and stability.
