The Egyptian Football Association resolves the controversy over Al-Ahly’s penalty kick against Ceramica

The Egyptian Football Association resolved the controversy surrounding the penalty kick in Al-Ahly’s match against Ceramica Cleopatra, through an official statement issued by the Referees Committee.
Al-Ittihad confirmed the validity of the match referee Mahmoud Wafa’s decision not to award a penalty kick in favor of Al-Ahly, during the confrontation that was held within the first round of the final stage of the league.
The statement, supported by a video clip, explained that the Ceramica player tried to avoid touching the ball with his hand, which was clearly evident from a back angle. The refereeing committee also indicated that the referee was in an ideal position to follow the shot.
The committee added that the Ceramica defender’s hand was in a normal position and did not cause his body to increase in size, and therefore it cannot be considered a violation requiring a penalty kick.
