Lebanon and Israel made the first contact through their ambassadors in Washington

The Lebanese presidency announced today that the Lebanese Ambassador to Washington, Nada Hamadeh, made a phone call with the Israeli Ambassador to Washington, Yechiel Leiter, with the participation of the US Ambassador to Beirut, Michel Issa, who is in Washington.
The Lebanese presidency stated in a statement published on its official account on the “X” platform that the contact resulted in an agreement to hold a meeting next Tuesday at the headquarters of the US State Department to discuss announcing a ceasefire and the date for the start of negotiations between Lebanon and Israel under American sponsorship.
