المملكة: Allocating 2.4 million hectares to sustainable grazing across 84 sites in the Kingdom


The National Center for Vegetation Development and Desertification Control announced the opening of applications for grazing permits in a number of sites Natural resources in the Kingdom.

Applying for pastures

The center explained that the application includes 84 sites of natural pastures in different regions of the Kingdom, after ensuring that they achieve environmental recovery standards and reach the targeted pastoral load, ensuring optimal use of pastoral resources without affecting vegetation or environmental balance.

It indicated that the sites proposed for grazing extend over a total area exceeding 2.4 million hectares, which reflects the size of Efforts made in programs to protect and rehabilitate pastures, and enhance opportunities for sustainable use of them to support The pastoral sector and livestock development.

Regulating grazing and obtaining permits

The center confirmed that the process of regulating grazing is one of the main tools for preserving natural pastures, as it is based on managing their use according to scientific and sustainable foundations that achieve a balance between the numbers of grazing animals and the ability of the vegetation to regenerate, ensuring the continuity of natural resources for future generations.

He pointed out that obtaining grazing permits is done electronically through the “Nabat” platform, calling on beneficiaries to Commitment to the regulations and instructions regulating grazing, adhering to the numbers specified in the permits, and not grazing outside the approved periods and locations, which contributes to protecting the vegetation cover and reducing the degradation of pastures.

The Center stressed the importance of preserving natural plants and not encroaching on protected or qualified areas, in addition to cooperating with the competent authorities and contributing to monitoring, rehabilitation and afforestation work, in a way that supports the goals of the Saudi Green Initiative and enhances environmental sustainability in the Kingdom.
