Sensory rooms at Satwa and Oud Metha bus stations for autistic children

Dubai, April 14 / WAM / The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority launched the “Sensory Rooms” project at the Satwa and Oud Metha bus stations, with the aim of improving the transportation experience for people of determination, including children with autism.

The Authority was keen to exploit its facilities and transform them into value-added service points, stressing its commitment to its societal responsibility, by adapting technology and innovation to create a comprehensive environment that ensures the integration of all segments of society with dignity and well-being.

Sensory rooms are a carefully designed environment to provide an experience that helps achieve a balance between relaxation and stimulation, appropriate to the individual needs of people with autism. These rooms include a group of advanced elements, most notably dim smart lighting systems that create a comfortable atmosphere, and interactive elements such as hammocks to enhance physical comfort, in addition to audio-visual effects that combine soothing music, natural scenes, and colorful views, which contributes to reducing sensory tension.
