Dubai Roads launches “sensory rooms” for autistic children at Satwa and Oud Metha bus stations

The Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai launched the “Sensory Rooms” project at the Satwa and Oud Metha bus stations, with the aim of improving the transportation experience for people of determination, including children with autism, with the aim of providing quality services to all members of society.
Sensory rooms are an environment carefully designed to provide an experience that helps achieve a balance between relaxation and stimulation, appropriate to the individual needs of people with autism. These rooms include a group of advanced elements, most notably dim smart lighting systems that create a comfortable atmosphere, and interactive elements such as hammocks to enhance physical comfort, in addition to audio-visual effects that combine soothing music, natural scenes, and colorful views, which contributes to reducing sensory tension.

The launch of the project comes in line with the directives of the wise leadership to provide quality services that ensure the comfort of people of determination and their families, as the Authority was keen to exploit its facilities and transform them into value-added service points, affirming its commitment to its societal responsibility, by adapting technology and innovation to create a comprehensive environment that ensures the integration of all segments of society with dignity and luxury.

The Authority obtained the “Safe Environment for People of Determination” certificate issued by the Dubai Autism Center, which praises its efforts in implementing the project and fulfilling the requirements of the Autism-Friendly Environment Programme, which reflects its commitment to adopting the best international practices in designing comprehensive and accessible transportation facilities and services for various segments of society, enhancing the quality of life and establishing the principles of inclusivity and accessibility, in line with the Dubai government’s directives to build a friendly city for people of determination that guarantees them a safe, comfortable and sustainable transportation experience.
