We stand with our partners and opening the Strait of Hormuz is a priority

European Council President Antonio Costa said on Monday that he informed Jordanian King Abdullah during a phone call of the necessity of reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
Costa wrote on the X platform that he made the call with King Abdullah today.
Costa said, “During our call today, I reiterated that the European Union stands with its partners in these difficult times and supports all ongoing diplomatic efforts.”
He added, “Reopening the Strait of Hormuz completely and without conditions remains a priority. We remain deeply concerned about the situation in Lebanon.”
The ceasefire between the United States and Iran appeared to be in danger today after the United States announced that it had seized an Iranian cargo ship that attempted to violate its blockade of Iranian ports. Tehran, for its part, has vowed to respond and currently refuses to participate in new peace talks.
The United States continues its blockade of Iranian ports, while Iran re-imposed its blockade that it had previously lifted on maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.
About a fifth of the world’s oil and liquefied gas supplies passed through the strait.
