Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi chairs the meeting of the Sharjah Media Council

Sharjah, April 26 / WAM / His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, chaired the Council’s meeting, which was held at Al Majaz Theatre, and discussed a number of topics concerned with monitoring the performance of media entities, and future plans, in a way that reflects on improving the media system in the emirate and achieving its approved strategy.

His Highness appreciated the prominent role played by media institutions during the exceptional circumstances that the region is going through, praising them for their transparency in reporting events, working according to approved plans and high readiness to keep pace with developments and convey the full picture to followers, which reflects the level of professionalism and credibility in transmitting news, and their pivotal role in enhancing community awareness and establishing confidence in complete information.

His Highness, Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, thanked and appreciated the entities for the achievements achieved during the past year at the media level in the emirate, praising the strategic performance of the media entities for the past year, which achieved many achievements and contributed to strengthening the status of the media and consolidating its effective presence, which reflects the integration and coordination of efforts, and confirms moving forward towards achieving greater excellence and leadership in media work.

The Council discussed the performance results of the media entities’ common indicators for the year 2025, where their average performance reached 95%, which indicates the efficiency of media work and the integration of roles, and reflects a high level of commitment to achieving strategic goals and improving the quality of institutional performance.

The Council reviewed the first quarter report of the Sharjah Media Council, which dealt with media services and activities such as photography permits and media permits of a commercial nature, and the agreements and partnerships concluded with strategic partners, in addition to projects related to developing the media services provided and their completion rates.

The meeting discussed the performance report of the Sharjah Radio and Television Authority’s channels and platforms during the first quarter of 2026, as it recorded a remarkable growth in the number of views across its affiliated channels at the local and Arab levels, in addition to the “Maraya” platform achieving more than 10 million visits to the application during the same period, which confirms the quality of media content and its ability to reach a wide and interactive audience.

The Council reviewed the latest developments in the development of the media platform of the Sharjah Government Media Office, which is an integrated digital platform supported by artificial intelligence, which aims to develop the government media work system and enhance its efficiency from the content creation stage all the way to measuring impact.

The platform provides a unified environment that brings together various government communication functions in one interconnected system, which includes preparing press releases, analysis and reporting, and media monitoring covering social media and traditional media, in addition to smart archives, a quick search feature and immediate access to information, which leads to reducing content preparation time by up to 40%, reducing distribution effort by 50%, and accelerating access to media materials and assets by 70%.

The Council learned about the developments in work in Sharjah Media City “Shams”, and the completion of the design phase of Shams Studios, which includes 5 production studios, 17 creative units, and buildings dedicated to supporting production and post-production, in addition to the details of the Shams Oasis for Creativity, the number of commercial licenses registered in the city, the performance of the Shams Business Center, and the results of the second session of the Shams Award for Arabic Content, in which 1,210 participants from several Arab countries participated.

The meeting was attended, in addition to His Highness, by Mohammed Hassan Khalaf, Director General of the Sharjah Radio and Television Authority, Tariq Saeed Allay, Director General of the Sharjah Government Media Office, Hassan Yaqoub Al Mansouri, Secretary General of the Sharjah Media Council, Rashid Abdullah Al Oubad, Director General of Sharjah Media City “Shams”, Salem Ali Al Ghaithi, Director of the Sharjah Radio and Television Authority, Alia Bu Ghanim Al Suwaidi, Director of the Sharjah Government Media Office, and Hessa. Abdullah Al Hammadi, Assistant Secretary General of the Sharjah Media Council.
