المملكة: "the environment": 50 thousand heads per day in the largest slaughterhouses and 341 staff to enhance readiness for the Hajj season

Revealed The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, on the features of its operational plan for Hajj season 1447 AH, confirming the readiness of its field and operational system according to an integrated timetable that keeps pace with the objectives of the Guests of the Most Merciful, and is based on raising the efficiency of performance and enhancing integration with relevant authorities.

The Ministry explained that the preparation journey began early through thoughtful stages that began with monitoring the challenges and lessons learned from the Hajj season 1446 AH, in addition to inventorying the plans and operational roles, before moving on to developing and detailing them in time, leading to the preparation of plans to raise readiness and build a risk register.

As the work progressed, technical reviews were completed. For the record, conducting a comprehensive review of the plans, then preparing the detailed operational plan in parallel with coordinating efforts between the authorities and adopting standards for measuring the quality of services.

The Guests of the Most Merciful Program

It indicated that the final stages witnessed the completion of harmonization and integration work with the relevant authorities, followed by submitting the plans through the Project Management Office of the Guests of the Most Merciful Program to the Supreme Hajj Committee, then approving them from the Ministry, coinciding with the start of issuing entry permits to the Holy Capital, operating shelter points and receiving sites in the cluster of government departments, Marking the start of actual implementation.

The Ministry confirmed that the operational plan is based on a set of strategic axes, the most prominent of which is achieving integration between the participating parties and unifying efforts on the field, in addition to raising the readiness of slaughterhouses and public benefit markets in terms of personnel and equipment, and implementing operational assumptions.

It also included updating performance indicators to measure the efficiency of implementation, and activating volunteer initiatives to support field work, especially in managing shelter points in cooperation with security agencies.

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah

With regard to the results of harmonization, it indicated the achievement of advanced governance of slaughter operations in coordination with the Royal Commission for the City of Mecca and the Holy Sites, in addition to organizing subsistence contracts in integration with the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah and the Holy Capital Municipality.

The results also included the readiness of waste landfill sites, the establishment of new engineering cells, the completion of the automation of tracking livestock market sales, the approval of countries from which imports are permitted, in addition to organizing waste transportation and enhancing Partnerships with charitable societies to distribute surplus meat, and intensify security control in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior.

The plan covered a wide spatial scope, including operating shelter points in Jeddah and Taif, and monitoring slaughterhouses in the south and west of Mecca, Al-Mu’aisem, and Al-Jumum, in addition to monitoring public benefit markets, such as Al-Kakiyah market for vegetables and fruits, and livestock markets, in addition to operating operating rooms in the Holy Capital and Jeddah, including the operations center. (911) and disaster and crisis management centers, during a period of time extending from the beginning of the month of Dhul-Qi’dah until the 20th of Dhu al-Hijjah.

Daily capacity

At the level of operational readiness, the Ministry increased the storage capacity of private slaughterhouses, reaching about 15,000 heads in the slaughterhouse south of Mecca (A), 8,000 heads in south Mecca (B), 2,000 heads in west Mecca, and 1,500. Head in Al-Muaisem.

The daily capacity has also been enhanced, reaching 50,000 heads in the South Mecca slaughterhouse (A), 19,800 heads in South Mecca (B), 35,040 heads in West Mecca, and 24,480 heads in Al-Muaisem, reflecting a high operational capacity to keep pace with peak demand during the season.

In terms of capabilities, the Ministry relied on implementing 8 operational projects, with the participation of 14 NGOs, 27 field teams, and 341 human cadres, in addition to the operation of 57 machines and equipment, in an integrated system that reflects the scale of the efforts made.

Hajj season management

A number of entities affiliated with the environment, water and agriculture system participated in implementing the plan, including the National Center for Environmental Compliance Control, the National Center for Waste Management, the Weqa Center, and the National Agricultural Services Company, in addition to integrating efforts with major government agencies that included the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Human Resources, the Royal Commission for the Holy City of Makkah and the Holy Sites, the Secretariat of the Holy Capital, and the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.

From For his part, the Director General of the Ministry’s branch in the Makkah Al-Mukarramah region, Engineer Walid Al-Daghis, confirmed that this plan represents an advanced model in managing the Hajj season based on proactive planning and institutional integration.

He stressed the Ministry’s commitment to achieving environmental sustainability and providing quality services that contribute to providing a safe, healthy and organized Hajj season, in line with the aspirations of the wise leadership in serving the guests of God.
