Dubai, April 26 / WAM / The “Gulf Influencers” event, the Gulf platform organized by the UAE Government Media Office, will launch tomorrow at the Atlantis, The Palm hotel in Dubai.
More than 1,000 Gulf media professionals, thinkers and content makers participate in the event, and it witnesses dialogue sessions in which government leaders, media figures and content makers participate to exchange visions and unify efforts towards formulating a more influential and clear media discourse that reflects the aspirations of the Gulf countries and enhances their effective presence in the international scene.
The event aims to convey the voice of the Gulf countries to the world, and to highlight the political and humanitarian constants from which their policies and initiatives stem, thus contributing to strengthening their international presence by building a clear and consistent narrative that expresses their positions on issues of national and regional priority.
In a dialogue session entitled “Reassessing Alliances in a Time of Tension,” His Excellency Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, Diplomatic Advisor to His Highness the President, raises the topic of global geopolitical transformations and their impact on the nature of traditional alliances, and reviews the urgent need for the Gulf states to re-evaluate their strategic partnerships and build flexible alliances that suit the changing security and economic challenges. He is interviewed in the media session by Faisal bin Hariz, Director of the Abu Dhabi Press Club.
A discussion session entitled “The Image of the Gulf in the Global Media… How Do We Reshape It?” addresses the challenges facing the image of the Gulf countries in the global media, and how countries in the region can work proactively to reshape this image.
Participating in the session are His Excellency Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, Chairman of the National Media Authority, His Excellency Dr. Saad bin Tafla Al-Ajmi, the former Minister of Information in the State of Kuwait, and His Excellency Samira bin Rajab, the writer and former Minister of Information in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The session is moderated by institutional evaluation expert Ibrahim Al-Tamimi.
A discussion session entitled “The Iran-America War, but the Gulf is at the forefront…why?” The potential repercussions of any escalation on the security of the region and the world. Academic Dr. Abdul Khaleq Abdullah and Abdullah Al-Junaid, the writer on geopolitical affairs, participate in the session, and it is moderated by journalist Jamal Al-Mulla.
He will speak in a discussion session entitled “Who controls the narrative today?” His Excellency Dr. Sultan Mohammed Al Nuaimi, Director General of the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research, and writer and journalist Jaafar Salman, where they review the changing media landscape and how different forces compete to control the narrative and shape public opinion, and the importance of building a strong and unified Gulf narrative to confront challenges. The session is moderated by media personality Khalifa Al-Muzain.
Mohammed Baharoun, Director General of the Dubai Center for Public Policy Research, and writer and journalist Khaled Al-Tarrah, participate in a discussion session entitled “Is there a new Middle East?” The media session is moderated by Mona Al-Raisi. The session discusses the concept of the new Middle East, and is the region currently witnessing radical transformations that may lead to the reshaping of political and economic maps.
It will also discuss a dialogue session entitled “Do we have a unified Gulf discourse?” The extent to which there is a unified political and media discourse for the Gulf states towards regional and international issues. The importance of unifying visions and positions is discussed to enhance the power and influence of the Gulf states on the global arena. Media personality and researcher Abdul Aziz Al-Khamis participates in the session, and it is moderated by the journalist Muhammad Al-Ahmad.
The legal advisor, Dr. Habib Al-Mulla, participates in a dialogue session entitled “Legal Sovereignty in Times of Crises… How does the Gulf protect its interests?”, in which he is interviewed by content creator Talal Al-Buhairi.
The “Gulf Influencers” event seeks to empower content makers by developing their practical and creative skills and experiences to produce meaningful digital content to be a voice for the aspirations of the peoples of the region in the face of challenges, and capable of presenting the national narrative and the message of the region’s societies with high professionalism and more impact and global reach.
