المملكة: Waqa: An intensive inspection campaign on pharmacies and veterinary facilities in various regions
The National Center for the Prevention and Control of Plant Pests and Animal Diseases implemented «Prevention”, in partnership with the Saudi Food and Drug Authority, launched a wide inspection campaign targeting pharmacies and veterinary facilities in various regions of the Kingdom, with the aim of controlling violations, enhancing food safety and protecting livestock.
The intensive field tours included facilities for selling and trading medicines, covering the regions of Riyadh, Makkah Al-Mukarramah, Medina, the Eastern Province, Al-Qassim, and Hail, in addition to Asir, Jazan, Najran, and Al-Baha, all the way to Tabuk, Al-Jawf, and the northern borders.
Intensive supervision
The supervisory teams focused on auditing practice licenses, examining the validity of medicines, and verifying facilities’ compliance with proper storage requirements, to limit any wrong practices that might threaten human and animal health.
The field work included an awareness-raising aspect, aimed at raising workers’ awareness of the importance of adhering to approved regulations, while warning of the direct risks of misuse of veterinary preparations to public health.

This step reflects the integration of government efforts to raise the efficiency of oversight and reduce abuses, in line with the objectives of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, which aims to enhance the sustainability of the environment and health sectors.
The two sides confirmed the continued implementation of these oversight campaigns on a regular basis, to deter violators and apply regulatory measures against them, in a way that contributes to “providing safe, high-quality products and protecting the consumer.”
