The Italian League.. The fall of Milan and the faltering of the “Old Lady”

Numerically deficient Milan fell to its host Sassuolo 0-2 in the 35th round of the Italian Football League on Sunday, and its series of negative results continued, leading it to a third loss in the last five stages, in exchange for a victory and a draw.
Domenico Berardi (5) and Frenchman Armand Loriente (47) scored Sassuolo’s goals.
Milan played with ten players from the 24th minute, after English defender Fikayo Tomori was sent off for receiving two yellow cards, the first in the ninth minute.
Milan’s score froze at 67 points in third place, two points behind Juventus in fourth place, while Sassuolo raised its score to 49 points in ninth place.
Berardi opened the scoring early, after receiving a pass from Loriente inside the penalty area, and he shot it with his left foot, creeping in from the right side, and it settled in the left corner (5).
The Frenchman added the second with a shot with his right from the left side inside the area. The ground settled to the right of French international goalkeeper Mike Maignan, after an exchange of the ball with Norwegian Christian Thorstedt (47).
Juventus failed to take advantage of Milan’s stumble and rise to third place, with a 1-1 draw against its guest, Verona, which is the second draw in a row for coach Luciano Spalletti’s team, after it tied against Milan in particular without goals in the last stage.
Scottish Kieron Boye opened the scoring for Verona, after he followed Croatian Domagoj Bradarić’s cross from the left side in the left corner of the penalty area from inside the penalty area (34).
Substitute Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic equalized from a direct free kick that he cornered to the right of guest goalkeeper Lorenzo Montipo (62).
The goal is only the fourth for the Serbian in the 16 matches he participated in with Juventus in the league this season, noting that he missed a long period due to injury.
Juventus raised its score to 65 points in fourth place qualifying for the Champions League, compared to 20 points for Verona in the penultimate nineteenth place.
Bologna settled for a lackluster 0-0 draw at home against Cagliari.
Consequently, Bologna failed to score for the fourth match in a row, in a series that began with a loss to Aston Villa of England 0-4 in the second leg of the Europa League quarter-finals (1-7 on aggregate), but at least it avoided a fourth defeat in a row.
Bologna entered Sunday’s match in ninth place, while Cagliari came in 16th place against its guest, needing a win to mathematically ensure they remain in the top flight.
With its seventh draw of the season, Bologna raised its score to 49 points and advanced to eighth place, while Cagliari raised its score to 37 points in sixteenth place, 9 points behind Cremonese, eighteenth.
So far, the identity of two teams relegated to the second division has been decided, namely Pisa, the last, and Verona, the nineteenth, after the former lost to Lecce, the seventeenth, 1-2, on Friday, at the opening of the stage.
After this stage, in which two matches are held on Monday, there are three stages remaining until the end of the season.
At the end of Sunday evening, Inter will play against its guest, Parma, and if it avoids loss, the title will be decided in its favor after second-placed Napoli, last season’s champion, stumbled against its host, Como, 0-0 on Saturday.
