المملكة: Prevention: Ventilation, agricultural spacing, and preventive spraying limit powdery mildew

The National Center for Prevention warned against Plant pests and animal diseases and their control «Protecting» farmers from the repercussions of powdery mildew, stressing the necessity of applying strict preventive measures inside greenhouses to ensure the sustainability of production.

The center explained that ensuring good ventilation for greenhouses, and leaving sufficient agricultural distances between plants, represent the first line of defense to confront the most prominent fungal diseases affecting the quality of crops.

He added that there is a strict commitment to implementing Preventive sprayingon a regular basis is an essential measure to reduce the spread of fungal infections and ensure the safety of agricultural production.

The center stated that this disease initially appears in the form of fine white spots or layers, which gradually expand to completely encircle parts of the plant in the event of aggravation of the infection and neglect of treatment.

He drew attention to the danger of the rapid spread of these fungal spores, noting that they are transmitted very easily by wind, which threatens to transmit the infection over long geographical distances between farms.

He called on farmers to follow closely and intervene early, stressing that “removing infected parts and improving environmental conditions contribute to enhancing plant health and the sustainability of agricultural production in the Kingdom.”
