Saudi Aramco, one of the world’s leading integrated companies in the field of energy and chemicals, announced a cooperation with Solutions by stc, the leading company in enabling digital transformation in the Kingdom and the region, to develop a new generation of high-performance supercomputers. This comes as part of the efforts of Saudi Aramco is continuing in the field of digital transformation.
Supporting computing in the exploration and production sector
The initiative aims to enhance Saudi Aramco’s capabilities in the field of computing in the exploration and production sector to discover and extract hydrocarbons. It will also represent the largest development of the computer infrastructure in the company’s history. This cooperation is an advanced step in Saudi Aramco’s journey towards Digital transformation, which contributes to pushing it to the forefront of global companies in terms of computing power in the energy field.
This supercomputer will serve as an important enabler for Saudi Aramco’s exploration and production work, as it will enable advanced seismic data processing and large-scale reservoir modeling and simulation.
This advanced system is designed to process huge amounts of data with high speed and accuracy, and its computing capacity will be seven times greater than the capacity currently available for Aramco’s exploration and production work. Saudi Arabia.
By enhancing the capabilities of seismic imaging, reservoir simulation and modeling, the supercomputer aims to redefine the speed and accuracy of discovering and extracting hydrocarbons, and contributes to increasing extraction rates from fields in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and extending their life.

For his part, the CEO of solutions by stc, Engineer Omar Al-Nomani, said: "This cooperation represents a strategic step towards empowering the energy sector by taking advantage of the latest high-performance computing capabilities, supporting the acceleration of seismic data processing and improving the efficiency of exploration and production work. Project Business Idea
The project, which costs 1.4 billion Saudi riyals (372.5 million US dollars), includes the use of a specially designed supercomputer to support both seismic data interpretation and reservoir modeling activities. By leveraging advanced technologies from leading global companies in the field of high-performance computing, this project aims to provide Saudi Aramco with a competitive advantage in data-intensive exploration and production businesses.
Delivery of the system is scheduled to begin in early 2027, and is expected to form the cornerstone of Saudi Aramco’s digital leadership in the global energy sector. Solutions by stc will provide solutions that include implementing the development process and providing the system, software and support.
