The Basketball Association sets the date for the launch of the Vice President’s Cup

The Basketball Association announced the start date of the Vice President’s Cup competitions, which begin on May 15 and continue until the 30th of the same month, with the preliminary stage being held in a single-stage group league system.

The eight participating teams were divided into two groups, where the first group included the Sharjah, Al-Bataeh, Al-Dhafra and Al-Jazira clubs, while the second group included the Shabab Al-Ahly, Al-Nasr, Al-Wasl and Al-Wahda clubs.

The tournament system stipulates that the eight teams qualify, after the conclusion of the preliminary round, for the quarter-finals, which is held in a knockout system, where the winner of each group meets the fourth-place finisher in the other group, while the runner-up of each group faces the third-place finisher from the opposite group.

The first group matches will start on May 15, with Al Sharjah meeting with Al Jazira, and Al Bataeh facing Al Dhafra, with the second group matches opening the next day (May 16), with Shabab Al Ahly meeting Al Wahda, and Al Nassr facing Al Wasl.

It is noteworthy that the Vice President’s Cup competition represents the fourth and final tournament in the local basketball season, after Shabab Al-Ahly won the Federation Cup and General League titles, while Al-Nasr won the third tournament title, the Emirates Cup.
