"Federal National" He participates in the meetings of the Mediterranean Parliament committees in Montenegro

Budva (Montenegro) on 9 May / WAM / Her Excellency Amna Ali Al-Adidi and Her Excellency Mudhahia Salem Al-Menhali, members of the Federal National Council group in the Mediterranean Parliament, participated in the meetings of the Parliament’s committees that were held within the work of its twentieth plenary session in the city of Budva in the Republic of Montenegro.

Her Excellency Amna Al-Adidi, Vice President of the Council Group in the Mediterranean Parliament, confirmed during her participation in the meeting of the Committee for Dialogue of Civilizations and Human Rights, which discussed the topic “Children in Armed Conflict in the Regions of the Mediterranean Parliament,” that children are among the groups most affected by armed conflicts, whether through direct exposure to grave violations, or through indirect effects associated with displacement, interruption of education, and declining opportunities to obtain health care and humanitarian aid.

She stressed the need to strengthen legal frameworks that criminalize the recruitment of children during conflicts, prevent all forms of violence, exploitation and violations, and deal with children affected by conflicts as victims in need of protection, care and rehabilitation, in addition to the importance of integrating child protection into the various stages of conflict prevention, mediation, peacebuilding, recovery and post-conflict reintegration, in a way that ensures the presence of the best interest of the child in all these paths.

Al-Adidi pointed to the UAE’s approach to child protection, through an integrated national and institutional system that includes prevention, protection, care, and rehabilitation, providing psychological and social support, and ensuring access to education and all basic services, stressing the state’s keenness to keep pace with emerging challenges, especially related to the digital space, by issuing Federal Decree Law No. (26) of 2025 regarding digital safety for children, which entered into force on January 1, 2026, with the aim of protecting children from content. Harmful digital practices that may affect their physical, psychological and moral safety.

For her part, Her Excellency Mudhahia Al-Menhali confirmed during her participation in the meeting of the Political Cooperation and Security Affairs Committee, which discussed the topic “Political and security cooperation in the Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf regions: the value of pluralism versus fragmentation,” that the Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf regions face interconnected security challenges, including regional conflicts, cross-border threats, navigation and energy security, and humanitarian crises, which collectively impose direct repercussions on the societies and national economies of these countries and the common global economy.

It expressed the United Arab Emirates’ condemnation in the strongest terms of the brutal Iranian terrorist attacks that targeted the country’s lands, vital installations and residents, the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan since last February, and the blatant violation of the sovereignty of countries and a direct threat to the security and stability of the region.

She stressed that the UAE’s position stresses that these attacks not only threaten the targeted countries, but also represent a threat to regional and international security, and call for a firm international stance that protects the sovereignty of countries, preserves the security of civilians, and prevents escalation.

Al-Menhali indicated that parliamentary work in this file requires focusing on two main paths, the first of which is activating parliamentary diplomacy as a supportive path for international efforts aimed at preventing conflicts and reducing escalation, by consolidating commitment to the United Nations Charter, respecting international law, and strengthening parliamentary dialogue based on the principles of sovereignty, non-interference, and settling disputes by peaceful means.

She added that the second path is to protect the security of navigation and vital sea lanes, especially the Strait of Hormuz, through regional and international cooperation based on international law, to ensure the stability of global trade movement, energy security, and the safety of supply chains.
