The Emirates Thalassemia Society organizes an event in Ras Al Khaimah to celebrate…"World Thalassemia Day"

Abu Dhabi, May 10, 2017 – The Emirates Thalassemia Society organized an event in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, to celebrate “World Thalassemia Day”, which carried messages of hope and solidarity, and stressed the importance of community solidarity to support patients and their families, at the Ras Al Khaimah Celebrations Centre.
The event was held under the directives of Sheikha Sheikha bint Saif bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, wife of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Advisor to His Highness the President of the State, Chairwoman of the Society’s Board of Directors, in cooperation with the “Basma Emirates Society for Chronic and Humanitarian Diseases”, and was attended by thalassemia patients from different cities accompanied by their families.
On this occasion, Sheikha Sheikha expressed the UAE’s firm commitment to caring for thalassemia patients, stressing that humanitarian work in the country is not just seasonal initiatives, but rather a solid approach that reflects the leadership’s vision of building a cohesive society that leaves no one behind and puts people at the heart of its priorities.
She said that World Thalassemia Day is not just an awareness occasion, but rather a renewed humanitarian message that confirms that every patient is a story of patience and will that deserves to be told and embraced, and that the UAE believes that health care is an inherent right, and that supporting thalassemia patients and their families is a national and humanitarian duty, especially in light of the “Year of the Family,” which promotes the values of cohesion and solidarity.
She concluded by saying: “We at the Emirates Thalassemia Society continue our efforts to spread awareness, provide psychological and moral support, and work side by side with our partners in society to provide a decent life for these heroes who inspire us daily with their strength.”
The event included poignant humanitarian segments, including live testimonies from patients and their families, reflecting their daily challenges and determination to live, in addition to honoring participants and supporters.
