192 runs in "Al Wathba 2026 finale" For camels
ABU DHABI, 10TH MAY / WAM / Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, the competitions of the annual final festival of purebred Arabian camel racing in its forty-seventh edition, “Al Wathba Finale 2026”, will begin tomorrow in Al Wathba Square, with the participation of thousands of camel horses from the country and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
The festival is being watched by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the UAE, Deputy Prime Minister, and Head of the Presidential Cabinet, and is organized by the Emirates Camel Racing Federation, headed by His Excellency Sheikh Sultan bin Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Advisor to His Highness the President of the State, as an extension of the approach of the founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, “may God rest his soul.” Its activities continue for 11 days and conclude on 21 Current May.
The festival, which is considered one of the most important heritage races in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and concludes the camel racing season, witnesses the holding of 192 races, 50 races for the camels of Their Highnesses the Sheikhs, 130 races for the tribesmen’s camels, and 12 races for the heritage race.
The participating mounts will compete for 28 symbols, after the establishment of the symbols for the Open Haqiq, Production, Al-Lakaya and Broadcast Production last March. The competition will be for the 28 symbols, including 4 symbols for the camel of Their Highnesses the Sheikhs, and 24 symbols for the camel of the tribesmen, distributed by 16 symbols for the open and local rounds, and 8 symbols for the production category rounds.
The start of the competitions comes with the Al-Laqaya Sun, which is held over two days, with 36 rounds allocated by the organizing committee for this category, followed by the Radio Sun, with 26 rounds, and then Al-Thanaya, with 32 rounds.
Tomorrow, 20-round competitions will be held for the age of Laqaya in the morning period, while the competition for this age will continue the day after tomorrow, Tuesday, with 16 rounds, including 10 in the morning period, while it concludes in the evening period with the four symbols rounds. The first-place finisher in the main Firstborn Cup will win one million and 500 thousand dirhams, and the cup, and the champion of the firstborn firstborn, will receive a cup and a million dirhams, while the winner in the open Al-Qaadan race will receive one million dirhams. The winner of the local Qaadan round will receive 800 thousand dirhams.
The camels of Their Highnesses the Sheikhs compete in the yearlings, yearlings and tambourines, and the organizing committee decided to hold 22 races for the doubles, including the two races of the symbols in the camel races of Their Highnesses the Sheikhs, and 28 races for the yearlings and the yearlings, which includes holding the races of the symbols for the sword of His Highness the President of the State and the open horse race.
The camels of the tribesmen participate in 36 rounds in the Al-Laqaya age, 26 in the Radio age, 32 rounds in the Al-Thanaiya age, and 36 rounds for the Hawl and Zamoul races, including 4 rounds for the symbols of the local and hybrid production category, and 4 rounds for the open symbols, competing for the most expensive prize, which is the Golden Sword in the main open year race, and its prize is 5 million dirhams.
