المملكة: 90 seconds to transfer reports.. The Red Crescent activates the proactive response during Hajj

The Chairman of the Saudi Red CrescentDr. Jalal Al Owaisi, during his participation in the Health and Security Forum in Hajj, that the ambulance system in This year’s Hajj season witnessed a qualitative leap in the speed of response and the efficiency of decision-making, through an advanced operational system that relies on analyzing data and human densities, and directing emergency teams according to precise standards.
He explained that the authority deals, during the peak of the season, especially on the ninth and tenth days of Dhul-Hijjah, with approximately 10 thousand calls daily, which are converted into emergency reports within a period not exceeding 90 seconds, indicating that this speed does not only mean the speed of reception, but It reflects the quality of decision-making before moving field teams.
He explained that choosing the appropriate ambulance team is not done randomly, but rather through analyzing geographical locations, studying the shortest and fastest routes, in addition to analyzing traffic densities and directions within the holy sites, ensuring access to cases with the highest possible efficiency.
New means of transportation
He pointed out that response methods vary according to the nature of the location and human density, as it begins with the use of ambulance “scooters” within crowded areas, and reaches Air transportation via “helicopter” in cases that require rapid intervention, stressing that the type of response method is determined according to the field need most appropriate for each case.
Al Owaisi revealed the introduction of new means of transportation this year, the most prominent of which is “Rufaida,” which is the electric vehicle whose name the authority took from the companion Rufaida, the first nurse in Islam, indicating that these vehicles will work within crowds to transport emergency cases with greater flexibility and speed, as this service provides more than 250 chairs. Electrically, it will be the primary transportation tool inside the holy sites, to support the ambulance teams and facilitate the transportation of patients and the elderly among the crowds.
He stressed that the ambulance service actually begins from the moment the call is received, as medical instructions and treatment directions are provided over the phone before the field teams arrive, with the aim of preserving the safety of the pilgrim and reducing the possibility of deteriorating health condition.
Proactive response
Al-Owaisi pointed out that the Red Crescent system now relies on the concept of “response.” “Proactive” is a modern mechanism that was developed during the last three years, and relies on reading data, analyzing human densities, and anticipating the locations most vulnerable to health cases, which allows medical teams to be pre-positioned in those locations before injuries occur.
He explained that the goal of this mechanism is not limited to rapid intervention after the case occurs, but rather extends to reducing the possibility of the pilgrim being exposed to health complications, by providing early medical care within the densest gathering sites, stressing that the authority works every season to develop its operational tools and benefit from previous experiences to access services. More efficient and quality first aid.
