Al Ain “Golden” .. writes the greatest seasons in the history of “professionals”
In a season in which everyone lost, Al Ain remained standing alone to win the Professional Football League title without losing, as the first team in the professional era to achieve the championship without any loss, and the second in the history of Emirati football after Shabab Al Ahly in the 1975-1976 season, so that Al-Zaeem wrote the greatest seasons in the history of the competition.
Al Ain played 26 matches this season without tasting defeat, achieving 21 victories versus five draws, which reflects the extent of dominance and technical stability that the team imposed since the first round, closing the season undefeated and placing itself alone at the top of the “Golden League” in the professional era.
Al-Ainawi’s achievement acquires greater value, because it was achieved in a version that is considered the longest and most competitive compared to what Shabab Al-Ahly achieved about half a century ago, when the tournament was played in a system of only 16 matches, during which the “Dubai Knights” succeeded in winning the title with 11 victories and five draws.
Before Al Ain, many tried to touch the golden dream, but the endings always brought them down, and Sharjah was the first to come close to achieving it in the professional era during the 2018-2019 season, after maintaining its record without loss in 23 matches, before losing to Al Wasl in the 24th round.
Al-Wasl tried again in the 2023-2024 season, after surviving without losing for 22 matches, but Al-Wahda stopped its march in the 23rd round, before Shabab Al-Ahly came close to its role last season, by maintaining its record undefeated during the first 22 rounds, before losing to Al-Wasl.
Al-Zaeem’s superiority did not stop there, but he continued to break records, after raising his series of consecutive matches without losing in the league to 33 matches, with 25 victories and eight draws, during which he scored 74 goals, conceded 25 goals, and came out with a clean sheet in 20 matches, exceeding the previous record recorded in the name of Al-Jazira by 28 matches.
Al Ain equaled the record for the highest number of points achieved by the league champion, after finishing the season with 68 points, which is the same number achieved by Al Jazira in the 2016-2017 season, to confirm the “Violet” that its current season was something bigger than the tournament itself, and that no one would bring down “The Leader.”
Ivic: We are ready to repeat the historic achievement
Al Ain coach, Serbian Vladimir Ivic, confirmed that his team will enter from the first match of next season with the same ambition and desire, to repeat the historic achievement of winning the Professional Football League title, without any loss.
Ivic told Emirates Today: “We will be ready from the first match next season, and with great motivation to continue the same approach, to repeat what was achieved this season, although it will not be easy in light of the presence of strong teams and experienced coaches, but we will do everything we have to compete again.”
He added: “What the players achieved this season was amazing, especially since the team included a number of new and young players who wore the Al Ain shirt for the first time, and yet they were able to write history and achieve an achievement that had not happened for many years.”
