“Gulf gold” shines on the chests of archery and paddle tennis champions

The national bow and arrow team won nine colored medals (three gold, five silver, and one bronze), and the men’s team in padel tennis won the gold medal, while the women’s team won bronze in the team competition, in the fourth Gulf Games, which conclude today, in the Qatari capital, Doha, bringing the tally of UAE sports to 61 medals, with 13 gold, 19 silver, and 29 bronze.

The player, Shehab Al-Saadi, opened the bow and arrow harvest, by winning the bronze medal in the individual compound bow category. The first gold medal came from the compound bow team (women’s teams), consisting of Jumana Al-Najjar, Amna Al-Awadi, and Maitha Al-Nuaimi, while Amna Al-Awadi won the gold medal in the women’s compound bow category, and Omar Al Ali added the third gold in the men’s bow competition.

In the team competitions, the men’s compound bow team, consisting of Yousef Al Hosani, Sultan Al Menhali, and Shehab Ahmed, won the silver medal. The men’s bow team, which included Saeed Al Dhahouri, Omar Al Ali, and Abdullah Al Ketbi, won the silver medal, while the women’s bow team, composed of Hessa Al Awadhi, Fatima Al Balushi, and Maryam Al Sayegh, won the silver medal.

The duo, Jumana Al-Najjar and Shehab Ahmed, added silver in the compound bow for the mixed teams, in addition to Jumana Al-Najjar’s silver in the women’s compound bow competition, while the bronze came to the duo, Omar Al Ali, and Hessa Al-Awadi in the mixed team bow competition.

Player Amna Al-Awadhi expressed her great happiness in achieving two gold medals, stressing that this achievement carries great moral value for her, as it was achieved in the name of the Emirates, and in an important Gulf sporting forum.

She said in press statements: “Winning two gold medals means a lot to me, because I not only represented myself, but I represented the Emirates with pride. Standing on the podium and seeing the UAE flag raised is an indescribable moment, and it makes me feel that all the effort, training and challenges we went through were worth it.”

For his part, player Omar Al Ali stressed that “the achievement he achieved in the bow and arrow competitions was the result of continuous support from the wise leadership and various sports authorities, expressing his pride in raising the UAE flag on the Gulf podiums.”

In turn, padel team tennis player Faris Al-Janahi stressed the importance of this great achievement, and said: “The players demonstrated the strength of determination and will to represent the country and raise its flag in sporting events by working in the spirit of one team and cooperating between all members of the team, including coaches, administrators and players, which contributed to achieving this success.”

As for the padel team tennis player, Fatima Shahdour, she said: “The women’s team presented strong performances and honorable levels throughout the matches in order to compete for the colored medals, which was already achieved by obtaining third place and the bronze medal, and what is to come will be better in the upcoming forums in an effort to win the gold medal and play the UAE’s national anthem in front of all the participating delegations.”
