The horse “Maqam” presents the UAE with the “Tattersalls Golden Cup” in Ireland

The horse “Maqam”, owned by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and under the supervision of trainer Ed Walker, was crowned champion in the “Tattersalls Golden Cup” race, designated for purebred crossbred horses of the first category, “Group 1”, for a distance of 2,100 meters on grass, and it took place today, Saturday, at the conclusion of the “Irish Guineas” festival on the ancient “The Cra” track.

“Al Maqam” added the fourth victory in his career, and his first in the “Group 1” races, the highest in the world classification. “Al Maqam” also presented the owners of the Emirates with a historic fifth victory in the “Tattersalls Gold Cup.”

Jockey Kieran Shomark knew how to maintain the capabilities of the horse “Maqam” during the first stages, and to stay close to the horses in front, before unleashing him as he entered the straight path of “The Cra” track, overtaking his competitors towards the lead, and crossing the finish line in first place, with a time of two minutes and six seconds, 80 fractions of a second, two lengths behind the second-place finisher, the Bahraini horse “Boy City Roller” with the “Victories Forever” team logo, under the supervision of coach George Scott and led by the knight. The horses of the Kingdom of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum continued their brilliance in the race, with third place going to the horse “Sadad” under the supervision of trainer Roger Varian, and led by jockey Ray Dawson.
