Iraq draws with Spain in a friendly match in preparation for the World Cup

The Iraqi national football team achieved a positive result against its host, Spain, before its expected participation in the FIFA World Cup finals in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
The Iraqi national team achieved a positive 1-1 draw against the Spanish national team, in the friendly match, which was held between them at the Riazor Stadium in the Spanish city of La Coruna, as part of their preparations to participate in the 2026 World Cup.
This draw with the former world champion gives the Iraqi national team a very good momentum before its appearance in the World Cup, which opens on June 11.
The two goals of the match came in the first half, as Ferran Torres took the lead for Spain in the 16th minute, but the Iraqi team quickly scored the equalizer through Mirjas Doski in the 27th minute.
The Spanish national team, which is seeking to win its second World Cup title, after winning the 2010 edition in South Africa, will play in Group Eight of the group stage of the World Cup, accompanied by the teams of Saudi Arabia, Cape Verde and Uruguay.
On the other hand, the draw placed the Iraqi national team, which is participating in the World Cup for the second time in its history, and the first since the Mexican edition in 1986, in the ninth group, alongside the national teams of France, Norway and Senegal.
