Latifa Bint Mohammed meets prominent female figures and cultural and creative leaders in the Kingdom of Sweden

STOCKHOLM, June 10, 2018 (WAM) – Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairwoman of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), met with a number of prominent female figures and cultural and creative leaders in the Kingdom of Sweden, as part of a working visit by Her Highness to Sweden at the head of a high-level delegation that includes ministers and government officials.
During her meeting with an elite group of women leaders in the fields of public policy, innovation, health care, technology and education, Her Highness reviewed the pioneering experiences and practices in empowering women and enhancing their participation in decision-making centers, and their pivotal role in leading development transformations and formulating policies and strategies capable of keeping pace with future changes.
The meeting discussed a number of topics related to leadership, governance, competency development, and the role of women in building more prosperous and sustainable societies, in addition to reviewing successful models in enhancing the balance between economic and social opportunities, and enabling women to effectively contribute to shaping the features of the future and advancing the comprehensive development process.
Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum also met, at the Vasa Museum in Stockholm, the most prominent cultural and creative leaders in the Kingdom of Sweden.
Her Highness toured the museum and learned about the most prominent features and stages of Swedish maritime history, the development of shipbuilding, and life in Sweden during the seventeenth century.
Her Highness and cultural leaders exchanged visions about the role of culture and creative industries in building cities and enhancing the quality of life.
The meeting discussed the shared visions between the UAE and the Kingdom of Sweden towards cultural and creative industries, in light of the two sides adopting a convergent approach based on considering this sector a promising economic engine worthy of investment and development, which contributes to enhancing economic growth, attracting talent and supporting innovation.
The meeting touched on policies and frameworks that support the cultural and creative sector, in addition to reviewing models and practices that contribute to stimulating the growth of the creative economy.
The two meetings were attended by Her Excellency Maryam bint Ahmed Al Hammadi, Minister of State and Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers, and Her Excellency Hessa Buhumaid, Director-General of the Community Development Authority in Dubai, along with members of the delegation accompanying Her Highness and a number of senior officials in the Swedish government.
