Sharjah Women’s Club wins 7 medals in the Abu Dhabi International Fencing Championship

SHARJAH, June 10, 2018 (WAM) – Sharjah Women’s Sports Club players recorded a distinguished presence in the U-12 competitions in the Abu Dhabi International Fencing Championship, which was held at the Al Nahyaniya Hall in Al Ain, with the participation of more than 200 male and female players from various clubs in the country and abroad, after they succeeded in winning seven colorful medals that reflected the development of their level and their ability to compete in tournaments with wide participation.
The epee weapon competition, in which 22 players participated, witnessed a strong presence by the club’s players, as Zainab Khaled Al-Nahla won the silver medal, while Shaima Khalfan Al-Qaz and Nadia Saeed Al-Sharif shared third place and the bronze medal in a performance that reflects the development of the players and their ability to compete in the various stages of the tournament.
In the fluorescent rifle, the players of the Sharjah Women’s Sports Club dominated the podiums, as Reem Omar Butti Al Shamsi was crowned with the gold medal, Toleen Saif Mohsen came in second place to win the silver, while Futtaim Khamis Al Badawi and Fatima Jassim Al Balushi won the bronze medal.
With these results, the club’s players ended their participation in the tournament with a total of seven medals, including a gold medal, two silver medals, and four bronze medals, an achievement that confirms the quality of artistic work and the continued development of the fencing rule in the younger age stages.
Balqis Al Shehhi, Head of the Technical Analysis and Follow-up Division at the Sharjah Women’s Sports Foundation, confirmed that the achieved results reflect the importance of continuous work in the foundational age groups, and what the female players achieved in this tournament reflects the technical development that we witness in the younger stages and confirms the importance of investing in building basic skills from an early age. She explained that these participations give the female players important competitive experiences and contribute to enhancing their self-confidence and gradually developing their technical abilities within a long-term preparation process.
These results reflect the success of the efforts made to develop the sport of fencing within Sharjah Women’s Sports Clubs and to enhance the presence of female players in various age groups, thus establishing a strong base that supports the future of the game in the long term.
