Abu Dhabi will welcome the elite of the world’s stars tomorrow at the UAE National Jiu-Jitsu Championship
Abu Dhabi, June 11 / WAM / The UAE National Jiu-Jitsu Championship competitions will begin tomorrow, with the participation of more than 1,500 male and female players from more than 80 countries around the world, over the course of three days at the Mubadala Arena in Abu Dhabi, amid a wide international presence, confirming the prestigious position that the emirate has reached as the global capital of Jiu-Jitsu and the main destination for hosting the most prominent tournaments and events specialized in the game.
The Abu Dhabi Association of Jiu-Jitsu Professionals (AJP) announced the completion of all technical and organizational arrangements for the tournament, which is one of the most prominent stations of the jiu-jitsu sports season at the local and international levels, and witnesses the participation of an elite group of male and female players seeking to achieve outstanding results and obtain approved international classification points.
The scale of participation and the wide geographical spread of the competing countries reflects the continuous successes achieved by Abu Dhabi in spreading and developing the sport of Jiu-Jitsu globally and consolidating its position as an international center for creating champions, discovering talents and refining their capabilities, through an integrated system of tournaments and development programs that contributed to enhancing the spread of the game on various continents.
The successes come in light of the great support that the game enjoys from the wise leadership and the consideration of Jiu-Jitsu as a national sport for the UAE, in addition to the ambitious strategy led by the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation, headed by His Excellency Abdul Moneim Al Hashemi, President of the Emirati and Asian Federations, First Vice President of the International Federation, which aims to consolidate the UAE’s global leadership and reach first place in the world and continue climbing to the podiums in various international tournaments and competitions.
The tournament witnesses various competitions throughout its three days, with the first day witnessing bouts in the Masters categories for men and women with various belts, in addition to the amateur categories for white and blue belts, while the second day is devoted to the buds, cubs and junior competitions for boys and girls, and the tournament concludes on Sunday with youth and adolescent competitions alongside the professional categories for purple, brown and black belts.
The competitions are organized over seven stages under the supervision of 25 international referees, ensuring the application of the highest standards of integrity, professionalism and quality of refereeing performance, and enhancing the strength and technical level of the competitions with the participation of a large number of distinguished players from various countries of the world.
Tariq Al Bahri, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Professional Jiu-Jitsu Association, said that the great demand for participation in the UAE National Championship reflects the high position that the tournament occupies on the global jiu-jitsu agenda and the growing confidence that the association’s championships enjoy among players, academies and federations from around the world.
He added that Abu Dhabi has succeeded over the past years in establishing its position as a global center for Jiu-Jitsu thanks to its strategic vision and continuous efforts to develop the game, noting that the Abu Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu Professionals Association organizes more than 250 tournaments annually in various continents of the world, which has directly contributed to expanding the base of practitioners, discovering talent, and creating new generations of champions.
He stressed the Association’s keenness to provide the best organizational, technical and arbitration standards to ensure an exceptional sports experience for participants, pointing out that the tournament represents an important platform for exchanging experiences, measuring levels of technical development and gaining more competitive experiences, which contributes to advancing the game globally and enhances the pioneering role that Abu Dhabi plays in leading the growth of jiu-jitsu at the international level.
The tournament continues to achieve rapid growth rates year after year, as the last edition recorded the participation of 1,405 male and female players from 73 countries, while the current edition is witnessing a significant increase in the number of participants and countries represented, which reflects the increasing confidence enjoyed by the Abu Dhabi Professional Jiu-Jitsu Association tournaments on the international scene.
