After being deprived of refereeing in the World Cup…Somali Omar Arten is a referee for the European Super Cup

The European Football Association (UEFA) chose Somali referee Omar Arten, who was banned from entering the United States before the start of the 2026 World Cup, to officiate the European Super Cup match between French Paris Saint-Germain, champion of the Champions League, and Aston Villa, English champion of the European League.
UEFA said in a statement: “Following consultations with the Confederation of African Football (CAF), we have decided to appoint Somali referee Omar Arten to manage the 2026 European Super Cup match.”
The match is scheduled to be held on August 12 in Salzburg.
