"Madinat Zayed Hospital" He successfully removes a deeply buried feeding tube through an advanced surgical scope
Abu Dhabi, June 12 / WAM / Madinat Zayed Hospital, affiliated with SEHA, one of the companies of the PureHealth Group, has succeeded in performing an advanced therapeutic endoscopy that enabled the removal of a deeply buried feeding tube using minimally invasive techniques, in an achievement that embodies the continued expansion of the capabilities of advanced therapeutic endoscopy in the Al Dhafra region.
The patient had a tracheostomy and had been relying on a transgastric feeding tube (PEG) for five years, but the tube lost all its function over time as a result of a complication known as Buried Bumper Syndrome, where the inner part of the tube becomes embedded in the stomach wall.
Previous medical evaluations indicated the possibility of the need to surgically remove the tube via open abdomen, but the gastroenterology team at Madinat Zayed Hospital succeeded in containing this challenge by employing advanced laparoscopic techniques, which enabled it to remove the buried tube safely and efficiently, sparing the patient from undergoing major, high-risk surgery.
