419 players in the 3rd edition of the Dubai Badminton Academies Championship

The third edition of the “Dubai Open Championship for Badminton Academies” witnessed great success, with the participation of 419 male and female players from 32 academies, who played 564 matches in the tournament organized by the Dubai Sports Council in cooperation with the Emirates Badminton Federation, and in partnership with “Prime Star Sports Services”, the operating partner of the tournament. The tournament comes as part of the Council’s efforts to attract and develop emerging sports talents, and in implementation of its policy that it launched as a translation of the directives of the Dubai government in the field of attracting and developing talents in various disciplines.

Ahmed Salem Al Mahri, Director of Sports Talent Management at the Dubai Sports Council, said: “This tournament reflects our commitment to empowering the next generation of athletes by providing competitive platforms that contribute to honing their skills and enhancing their chances of representing the country in international forums. The current edition has shown clear distinction in terms of the level of participation and organization, which confirms the success of our strategic partnerships with sports clubs and academies.”

For his part, tournament director Ravi Kumar said: “We thank the Dubai Sports Council, the UAE Badminton Federation, our sponsors and supporters, and all the participating academies for their continued support for the development of badminton in the country. The tournament achieved remarkable success thanks to the wide participation of players from different age groups, which contributed to the emergence of many promising talents.”

The players competed for the singles and doubles titles in the age categories of U9, U11, U13, U15, and U17, in a scene that reflects the growing level of badminton for juniors in the UAE.

The U-9 competitions witnessed the victory of Sahil Altaf from the “Al-Diamond Sports Academy” in the boys’ individual title, while Sampada Seethamma Poppy Hemanth from the “Regional Sports Academy” won first place in the girls’ individual title.

In the under-11 category, Kaisikan Deepak from Lions Sports Play Zone took the lead in the boys’ singles, and Purna Sai Nandana Saniseti from We Met Academy won the girls’ singles title.

As for the “A” level competitions for the same category (under 11 years), Laksh Garg Vijay Garg from “Prime Star Sports Services” won first place in the boys’ individual competition, and Lakshmi Sai Mohan from “Cosmos Academy” achieved the girls’ individual title.

In the under-13 competitions, Aditya Sajith from the “Rise Badminton Training Academy” achieved first place in the boys’ singles, while Vidyasree Velaga from the “Al-Massa” Academy excelled by winning the girls’ singles title.

In the doubles competition for the same category, the duo Gautam Prabhu and Nirav Venu from the “Racquet Science Academy” took the lead for the boys, while the duo Durgajivan Jeevanprakash and Vidyasree Velaga from the “Al-Diamond Academy” won the girls’ doubles title.

At the “A” level for under 13 years, Arab Raghudas from “Al-Massa” Academy won the top spot in the boys’ singles, while Victoria Leung from “Ground Zero” won the girls’ singles title, while the boys’ doubles title went to the duo Shaurya Bisin Saurabh Bisin and Pranav Rijith from “WeMet,” and the girls’ doubles title went to the duo Srikruthi Peeti Leela Bhaskar and Vihani Ajay Gupte from the “NVBA Academy.”

In the under-15 category, John Drakes Ro Garcia from Any Time Sports Academy took first place in the boys’ singles, and Eliza Rachel Peter from Racket Science took first place in the girls’ singles.

The doubles competitions saw the duo Kishan Dhanasekaran and Saranjit Venkat from the “Rise Academy” win the boys’ title, while Anugraha Ajithan and Unati Singh from the “Diamond Academy” won the girls’ title.

In the “A” level competitions for the same category, Karthik Balasubramani from “Prime Star” topped the boys’ singles competitions, and Nividya Sanil Valiaparambil from “Lions Sports” won the girls’ singles competitions, while the duo of Hridhan Romil Chowdary and Sparsh Sajnani from “Eminent Sports” won the boys’ doubles title, and the duo of Kanishka Arunkumar and Shanti Nicole Insilai from “Prime Star” won the girls’ doubles title.

In the U-17 category, Brandon Tan from NVBA won the boys’ singles title, and Riya Deepak from Fire Rallies won the girls’ singles title.

In the doubles competitions, the duo John Samuel Angelo De Araga and Azan Najeeb Hashim (from Mentor and Great Way Academy) won the boys’ title, while Nethra Jayakrishnan and Nidhi Ranjith Nath from Racket Science won the girls’ title.

In the “A” level competitions for under 17 years, the “Lions Sports Play Zone Academy” shined with Safwan Shaheen winning the boys’ singles title, Amy Ann Jackson winning the girls’ singles title, and the duo Zamil Kizakvetil Nisar and Safwan Shaheen winning the boys’ doubles title.
