المملكة: With 12 initiatives, drowning deaths decreased to 17% per 100,000


Death rates resulting from unintentional injuries in the Kingdom recorded a decline of 30% during the year 2025 AD, following the effective implementation of the national policy for the prevention of diseases Drowningand strengthening the water safety system.

Indicators related to public safety showed a low rate of Drowning deaths to reach 17% per 100 thousand people.

This result was supported by the implementation of an integrated system of awareness and organizational programs aimed at reducing accidents in bodies of water.

Drowning prevention

She explained that this tangible reduction is due to the work of the permanent joint national committee for drowning prevention.

She indicated that the committee leads direct supervision of 12 national initiatives focusing on raising community awareness, developing emergency response mechanisms, and enhancing safety procedures.

Details indicated that the committee includes 12 government agencies working within a joint coordination framework to ensure the effective implementation of preventive policies in various regions of the Kingdom.

The list of participating agencies included the ministries of health, environment, water, agriculture, municipalities, housing, education, trade, tourism, human resources and social development.

It also included The supervisory system is the Public Health Authority, the Saudi Red Crescent Authority, the Saudi Border Guard, and the Saudi Civil Defense.

The same statistics and data point to the participation of the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Authority and the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee in supporting organizational and awareness efforts.
