المملكة: “Roads”: Traffic accidents increase by 15% during the summer vacation
Warned The General Authority for Roads vehicle drivers from a 15% increase in the rate of traffic accidents during the summer vacation, calling on travelers between the Kingdom’s cities to strictly adhere to safety guidelines to reduce the number of deaths.
The Authority explained that the preventive measures that must be taken before embarking on travel include conducting a comprehensive technical inspection of the tires, measuring the air pressure, and verifying the efficiency of the brake system and the safety of the front and rear lights.
It stressed the importance of equipping the vehicle with basic emergency tools and the tire. reserve, in addition to ensuring the validity of the driving license and the completion of official papers, recommending that vehicle drivers take sufficient sleep and rest to ensure complete concentration.
Causes of traffic disasters
The General Authority of Roads alerted to the most prominent causes leading to traffic disasters on highways, which are concentrated in neglecting to leave a safe distance between vehicles, and sudden deviations without activating the side warning lights.
It pointed out the danger of being distracted from driving using smart phones or any other distractions. It distracts attention, warning at the same time against driving in the opposite direction, ignoring traffic signals, or infringing on the right of others to walk.
These warnings come within the authority’s efforts to enhance traffic awareness and provide a safe transportation environment for citizens and residents, calling on road users to request intervention and assistance in emergency cases by calling road security operations on the number 996.
