A point from Ghana is enough for Croatia to qualify… and England is set to take the lead

The Croatia team, led by Luka Modric, occupies third place in Group 12, and must win or draw against Ghana, at one o’clock tomorrow, UAE time, to ensure qualification to the round of 32 of the FIFA World Cup, within a group in which England must secure its result against Panama, which has already been eliminated, but has everything to gain against one of the candidates for the title.

The Croats have one point less than the “Black Stars” (4 points), and a win or draw guarantees the qualification of the 2018 runner-up and the 2022 third place. The aging team of coach Zlatko Dalic suffered a heavy defeat against England (2-4), before achieving the minimum required against Panama (1-0), the weakest in the group.

Croatia is no longer at its best level as it was previously, and the captain and former Spanish Real Madrid star, who is considered an undiscussed key option, was replaced in the first two matches.

On the other hand, Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz’s men showed against England (0-0) their ability to organize defensively and withstand the opponent’s attacks until stoppage time. The “Black Stars” also demonstrated their ability to be focused and score in the final minutes against Panama (1-0).

For its part, England is at the top of the group with four points, with only one goal difference against Ghana, and must finish the task in East Rutherford (New Jersey) against Panama at one in the morning tomorrow, but the Central American team, which does not have any points in its second participation in the World Cup after 2018, has nothing to lose in this confrontation.
